Dear Parklawn Family,

My name is Catrina Tangchittsumran and my family joined the Parklawn community in 2017. You may also know my friends, the Kulman family – parents Ali and Dave and their sons, Eli (age 8) and Jacob (age 5). The Kulmans have been members at Parklawn for the past few years, and in pre-COVID days could often be found sharing toys and snacks and making friends with everyone around them. What you may not know is that both brothers have a rare genetic condition called IPEX Syndrome. Both Eli and Jacob are in need of life-saving bone marrow transplants, which they are scheduled to receive later this fall. Here is a link to a brief video with more information about the Kulman family’s journey.

The Kulman family has partnered with the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), for assistance and I am honored that they have asked me to serve as the Community Coordinator for their COTA Campaign. COTA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that helps children and young adults who need a life-saving transplant by providing fundraising assistance and family support. 100% of each contribution made to COTA in honor of Eli & Jacob will assist with a lifetime of transplant-related expenses. COTA’s services are provided free of charge, and gifts to COTA are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

There are many ways that you can support our COTA Campaign in honor of Eli and Jacob:

1) Visit our campaign website at www.COTAforEandJ.com to learn more about Eli & Jacob and to donate to our campaign

2) Like/follow us on social media to help spread the word: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and subscribe to updates from our COTA campaign website.

3) Join us at Parklawn Pool THIS SATURDAY, September 19 (World Marrow Donor Day) between 10:30am to 3:00pm for a fundraiser with the Kona Ice Truck. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Children’s Organ Transplant Association in honor of Eli & Jacob.

4) Check our Events page regularly for new fundraiser events. We are currently running a t-shirt/wristband fundraiser (through September 28) and have Bingo Night and Fall Mini-Portrait Session fundraisers scheduled too!

Thank you for rallying around Eli and Jacob and the entire Kulman family during this difficult time. If you have any questions, or want to know other ways you can help, please contact me at COTAforEandJ@gmail.com

Sincerely,

~CHTS

Come one, come all!!!

For the final week of the Parklawn Masters Swim session, there is a massive challenge with prizes. All swimmers are highly encouraged to participate.

Prizes will go to each Masters swimmer that sets a Masters swim distance personal best. For example, Bob N, needs to swim 73 pool lengths (1825 meters) to set his personal best. Steve probably needs to swim more than 64 lengths (with or without fins).

While Lifeguard extraordinaire, Grant Pettrie, has many, many prizes, he is requesting that participants please consider bringing a “gag white elephant “ prize to be awarded to others. Edible or drinkable prizes are encouraged.

Prizes can be earned Monday, Wednesday, or Friday this final week of the Masters season.

Let us know if you need to know how to sign up!!
